Brief links this week, which doesn’t really do them justive. They’re all very interesting, I promise you!

Publishing: 25 reasons your submissions gets rejected, and how to start your own zine. The important thing is not to let one article lead to the other! Rejections show you’re not ready to be published, on the whole, not that you should go into publishing yourself.

Interest Piquing: Two links from Film School Rejects, courtesy of Elisabeth Fies‘ blog (one of the directors I met at the film festival). 10 actresses worth their weight in cash, and 10 great films you didn’t know were directed by women.

InsPiring: Previously unknown language emerges in India. Considering the rate languages are going extinct at, its both a moment of joy and sadness todiscover one. That it hadn’t been discovered sooner does not speak well for its survival, sadly, but it has been discovered now and hopefully efforts will be made to preserve on some level (being an unwritten language, the only way to preserve its stories is by preserving it).

Procrastination: Beyond Fiction is having a Ghost Appreciation Month. There’s a bit of a self-pimp here, since I’m reviewing Ghostwatch on the 31st, but there’s a whole host of really interesting posts on all aspects of ghost in fact and fiction, from Spirit Photography to The Shining.
